Hosted a Dialogue with group of journalists on factual reporting during climate crisis

The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University organized a dialogue with group of journalists on factual reporting during climate crisis. This was done in colloboration with CPDI, in a project called Hum-ahang funded by USAID.

Civil society engagement officer, Ms. Mehwish Aziz, Civil society engagement officer, Ms Sehrish ARY News, Ms Gulrukh Virani Jouranlist and social Media Activist, Ms Urooj Social Media Activist youth activist from Sukkur and BNBWU faculty member, Ms. Rida Siddiqui discussed the issues of factual reporting on social media during climate crisis. During the event led by Dr. Noor Ahmed Brohi, students asked burning questions related to contemporary issues related to social media.

After the dialogue, the theatrical play ‘Dharti Ki Pukaar’ was performed by students. It was written by faculty member, Sarmad Aftab Lashari. The play foccused on circumstances of Sindh in 2022 floods.

During the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tehmina Mangan emphasized the university’s commitment to advancing academic excellence through innovative research and education. She highlighted that the establishment of a dedicated research center and the launch of the new Environmental Sciences degree program reflect the institution’s focus on tackling global environmental challenges. Dr. Mangan explained that the program will empower students with the skills needed to address critical issues such as climate change and biodiversity loss. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, the university aims to translate research into practical solutions, promoting sustainability and contributing to societal well-being and environmental preservation.
