In line with the vision of our Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, to promote health awareness, academic collaboration, and community well-being, The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur proudly observed World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week 2025 from 18–24 November. Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is one of the most pressing global health challenges, undermining the effectiveness of life-saving medicines and increasing the risks of prolonged illness and mortality. Raising awareness and encouraging responsible use of antimicrobials is essential to protect current and future generations.

The Department of Human and Rehabilitation Sciences, BNBWU Sukkur, in collaboration with the University of Karachi and the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, organized a meaningful awareness campaign under the global theme, β€œAct NOW, Protect Our Present and Save Our Future.” This initiative demonstrated the University’s commitment to contributing to national and global health efforts through education, advocacy, and community-oriented engagement.

On 20th November 2025, the AMR Awareness Event brought together experts, researchers, faculty, and students from BNBWU, University of Karachi, Dow University of Health Sciences, Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, and Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College. The panel discussion featured distinguished speakers including Dr. Saifullah Bullo (Co-Chief Organizer, BNBWU), Prof. Dr. Omer and Dr. Humera from Dow University of Health Sciences, and Dr. Sham Lal Shah from Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur. Eminent contributors such as Dr. Syed Noman Ali (United Nations), Dr. Ahmer Rauf (University of Michigan, USA), Prof. Dr. Amanullah Bhutto and Dr. Nazakta Husain Memon (GMMU Sukkur), Prof. Dr. Naeemuddin, and Dr. Ali Yasir from Searle Pharmaceuticals also shared valuable insights on AMR, its global impact, and preventive strategies.

Dr. Saifullah Bullo delivered the concluding remarks and vote of thanks on behalf of the Worthy Vice Chancellor, expressing gratitude to all speakers, partnering institutions, students, and organizing teams for their active participation and contribution. As part of student engagement, a series of creative and educational activitiesβ€”including poster presentations, AMR flyers competition, awareness videos, and a quiz competitionβ€”were conducted to encourage learning, research-based thinking, and innovative expression among students.
