In line with her continued emphasis on nurturing socially responsible and ethically aware graduates, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, Vice Chancellor, The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU), facilitated the organization of an impactful Awareness Session titled “From Identity to Responsibility” on 26th February 2026 at the University campus.

The session was graced by Mr. Abid Saleem Qureshi, Commissioner Sukkur, as the distinguished speaker. Addressing students and faculty members, he highlighted the critical role of youth in shaping society through responsible citizenship, integrity, and active civic engagement. He emphasized that identity must be accompanied by accountability, urging students to translate education into meaningful service for their communities and the nation.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, fostering constructive dialogue on leadership, ethics, and societal contribution. Encouraging faculty and students to actively engage in national and international academic forums, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, Vice Chancellor BNBWU, has consistently supported research dissemination by facilitating logistics and institutional backing for participation in prestigious conferences. In continuation of this commitment, The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU), participated in the 5th Pak–Turk International Conference on Chemical Sciences (PTICCS) held on 4–5 December 2025 at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, organized by the Center of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, University of Sindh.

The conference brought together distinguished researchers and scientists from Pakistan and Türkiye , strengthening scientific collaboration and academic exchange between the two countries.

Representing BNBWU, final-year BS Chemistry student Sanjana presented a poster titled “𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐃𝐲𝐞 𝐔𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐬,” while Kamila delivered a poster presentation on “𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐲𝐞 𝐔𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐧𝐎₂ 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐭.” Their research was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Tania Ghumro, reflecting the department’s growing focus on applied environmental research. The University also acknowledges the continuous academic guidance of Dr. Saifullah Bullo, Chairperson, Department of Human & Rehabilitation Sciences and Dr Ram Chand, Acting Dean FELS.

In addition, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Farooque presented his research through an oral presentation, further enhancing BNBWU’s academic presence at the international forum.

Under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU), achieved a landmark milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Council Sukkur under the leadership of Syed Kumail Haider Shah, Chairman District Council Sukkur, to collaboratively promote and strengthen the ACCA program for female students.

The ceremony was also graced by the Honorable Guest Mr. Abid Saleem Qureshi, Commissioner Sukkur Division, whose presence reflected strong administrative support for initiatives aimed at professional education and community development.

The MoU formalizes a strategic partnership aimed at expanding access to globally recognized professional accounting education for talented and deserving women, particularly from underprivileged and marginalized backgrounds. As part of this historic collaboration, the District Council Sukkur has generously committed financial support amounting to PKR 20 million, ensuring that meritorious students are provided with structured academic assistance and financial facilitation through a transparent and rigorous selection process.

This partnership represents a significant step toward bridging the gender gap in the accounting and finance sector, where women’s representation has traditionally remained limited. Through this initiative, BNBWU continues to align professional education with its broader mission of women’s empowerment, financial literacy, and socio-economic uplift of the region.

Encouraging students to actively engage in community-based initiatives and gain practical, on-ground exposure beyond classrooms, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, Vice Chancellor BNBWU, has consistently emphasized the importance of linking academic learning with societal impact and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In continuation of this approach, a Hygiene Awareness Session and Volunteer Recruitment Drive was organized on 12 February 2026 at the Recreational Hall under the AICP initiative of UNODC.

The activity was conducted by students of the Department of Management Sciences and Technology (DMST) under the supervision of Dr. Noor Ahmed Brohi, Chairperson DMST, as part of their assigned community project focusing on real-life social challenges. The session addressed hygiene and sanitation issues in UC Wadi Patni, highlighting rural environmental challenges and the need for behavioral change and awareness.

Operating under the banner of Team “The Hustlers,” students presented actionable strategies to promote sanitation awareness and initiated volunteer recruitment for upcoming field-level interventions. The initiative aimed to strengthen civic responsibility, leadership capacity, and community problem-solving skills among students.

The program aligns with the broader objectives of the UNODC AICP framework, and the guidance of Prof. Hussain Haider Shah, Senior Legal Consultant UNODC, further reinforces the academic-community linkage and youth engagement in constructive social development initiatives.

The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU), is pleased to share that Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, Vice Chancellor BNBWU, has been invited to attend the Asia-Pacific Shelter & Settlements Forum 2026 to be held in Karachi.

The opening ceremony of the Forum on 12th February 2026 will be graced by Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, First Lady of Pakistan, while the closing ceremony on 13th February 2026 will be honored by Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh, at the Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi. The Forum will bring together policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to deliberate on sustainable housing, urban development, and inclusive settlements.

The invitation reflects BNBWU’s growing engagement with national and international platforms and highlights the University’s continued contribution to social development, policy dialogue, and sustainable initiatives under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj.

Her Excellency, the First Lady of Pakistan, Ms. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, in the presence of the Honorable Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, conferred the Aurat Foundation Award upon Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, Vice Chancellor, The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU), and her team of students and researchers proudly recognising their exemplary leadership, innovation, and the University’s AI Drone initiative, which is currently undergoing further enhancements under BNBWU’s 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐆𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐨-𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞 Development Initiative to support upscaling and improved efficiency.

The recognition also acknowledges Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj (Vice Chancellor, BNBWU Sukkur) for her work, integrity, and dedication, highlighting unwavering commitment, exemplary leadership, and invaluable contributions described as creating a meaningful and lasting impact on society and serving as an inspiration to many.

Initially, basics of AI Drone was developed by BNBWU’s research team under the supervision of Dr. Imtiaz Birohi (PI of the project) with funding support from Sindh Higher Education Commission. The AI Drone is now undergoing expansion and modification under BNBWU’s 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐆𝐞𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐨-𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞 Development Initiative to further improve and scale the system, enhance cost-effectiveness, and make it accessible for small farmers, particularly in Sindh, where most farmers operate on small, fragmented landholdings.

The ceremony brought together distinguished guests, scholars, consul generals based in Karachi, businesspersons, philanthropists, professionals, and members of media and civil society to celebrate excellence, service, and commitment to the public good.

The session was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey, Ambassador of Pakistan Niamey, Niger, as the guest speaker. The University warmly welcomed the distinguished diplomat and expressed gratitude for his valuable interaction with students and faculty members.

Dr. Ahmed Ali Sirohey, who has been serving as Ambassador of Pakistan to Niger since February 2020, possesses extensive diplomatic experience, having served in key international postings including Brunei, Nigeria, Yemen, Jeddah, and Baghdad. With a strong background in economic and public diplomacy, he has played a significant role in promoting investment, trade, and sustainable economic development.

During the session, Dr. Sirohey shared his inspiring professional journey, emphasizing the importance of education, discipline, integrity, and global awareness in achieving success. He encouraged students to develop leadership qualities, critical thinking skills, and a commitment to lifelong learning. His interactive and thought-provoking discussion provided valuable insights into international relations, diplomacy, and career development.

The honorable speaker also highlighted the growing importance of economic diplomacy and public engagement in today’s interconnected world. He briefed participants about his scholarly contributions, including his authorship of several books on economic and public diplomacy, which reflect his dedication to academic and professional excellence.

The session was jointly organized by the Centre for Women Empowerment, Research, and Trainings (CWERT) and the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC). It was graced by Mr. Irfan Ullah, Director, QAA, Higher Education Commission, (HEC), as the guest speaker, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on accreditation standards, quality frameworks, and alignment with HEC policies.

He highlighted the importance of internal quality systems, continuous improvement, and outcome-based education in ensuring academic credibility and institutional performance. Faculty members and administrative staff actively participated in the interactive discussion.

Under the visionary leadership and continued guidance of the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU), remains committed to providing quality, skill-oriented, and experiential learning opportunities to its students.

In this regard, the Department of Management Sciences & Technology, under the supervision of Dr. Noor Ahmed Brohi, Chairperson, successfully organized an Entrepreneurial Practical Session – Simulation-Based Startup Activities on 09 February 2026. The session was conducted for BBA students and was attended by more than 80 students from various programs and departments .

The session was organized and facilitated by Dr. Marvi Soomro Assistant Professor, who guided students through interactive activities including idea generation, opportunity screening, business model development, customer discovery simulation, and startup pitching. These activities enabled students to understand real-world entrepreneurial processes and develop critical business skills.

The program concluded with a reflection and feedback session, where students shared their learning experiences and appreciated the practical approach. Such initiatives reflect BNBWU’s commitment to nurturing innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurial mindset among students, in line with its vision of academic excellence and community development

Under the dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU), proudly participated in the 7th CPA Asia Regional Conference / 2nd Joint CPA Asia & South-East Asia Regional Conference 2026, held at the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Karachi, from 3rd to 7th February 2026. The University’s participation was facilitated through the gracious invitation of the Honourable Speaker, Sindh assembly, Syed Awais Qadir Shah.

BNBWU established a dedicated exhibition stall showcasing its flagship academic, research, and innovation-driven initiatives. A major attraction was the AI-enabled drone technology for precision pesticide spraying in date palm and banana plantations, reflecting the University’s commitment to smart agriculture and environmental sustainability.

The University also presented four European Union-funded research projects, implemented in collaboration with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) on Maternal Malnutrition in Sindh. An AI and Machine Learning-based mobile application for early diagnosis of malnutrition, developed by BNBWU faculty and students, was prominently displayed, highlighting the institution’s growing strength in digital health and community-oriented research.

The BNBWU stall was visited by several distinguished dignitaries, including the Honorable Sindh Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Honorable Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah, and Provincial Home Minister Zia ul Hassan Lanjar, along with delegations from the National Assembly, Punjab Assembly, and Balochistan Assembly. During their visit, the Honourable Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah applauded the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj and appreciated BNBWU’s contribution to research, innovation, and women empowerment. The Honorable Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah expressed his utter satisfaction over the University’s management and academic progress and highly commended the exhibition stall and the efforts of faculty and students.

A special highlight was the visit of Ms. Farah Azeem Shah (MPA, Balochistan), who underwent live nutritional assessment through the AI-based application. She highly appreciated the innovative work of BNBWU faculty and students and commended its practical relevance in addressing maternal and child malnutrition.

The exhibition also attracted prominent foreign delegates from Malaysia, including Dato’ Sri Amar D’raja Dr. Haji Mohd Amar Bin Abdullah, Dato’ Sri Haji Mohd Sharkar Bin Haji Shamsudin, Lau Weng San, and Haji Khazan Bin Che Mat, as well as representatives from the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Community members and visitors from across Pakistan also showed keen interest in the University’s initiatives.

The visitors acknowledged BNBWU’s pioneering role in integrating research, technology, and social responsibility, particularly in underserved regions. The showcased projects were recognized as strong examples of universities contributing to national development and the Sustainable Development Goals.
