In a spirit of openness, inclusivity, and student-centered leadership, the Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj held an interactive meeting with students of The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU), ahead of the beginning of the New Year 2026.

The session provided a valuable platform for candid engagement, where students openly shared their concerns, suggestions, and comments related to academic life, campus facilities, and student welfare. The Worthy Vice Chancellor attentively listened to the students’ views, encouraging constructive dialogue and reaffirming that students’ feedback remains central to the University’s continuous improvement efforts.

As part of the broader academic and research advancement framework under the leadership of the Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, students of the Department of Education, The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU), actively participated in the 4th International Conference on Education (ICE-2025) held at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi, in collaboration with Sukkur IBA University.

Students from B.Ed. Semester V and VI and MS Education Semester I presented their research papers at the conference, demonstrating academic rigor, confidence, and scholarly engagement. The students were supervised and mentored by Ms. Sheema Gohar and Ms. Nadia Zameer Chang, whose guidance played a pivotal role in preparing the students for effective research presentation at an international academic forum.

The participation provided valuable exposure to contemporary educational research, scholarly discourse, and interaction with academics and researchers from diverse institutions, significantly contributing to the students’ academic and professional development.

A moment of great pride for the Department of Education was marked when Ms. Safia received the Best Research Paper Presentation Award, highlighting the quality of research and academic excellence being fostered at BNBWU.

Such participation reflects BNBWU’s strong commitment to research-led learning, academic excellence, and international engagement, enabling students to confidently represent the University at prestigious national and international platforms.

Vice Chancellor BNBWU Invited as Guest of Honor at 7th Convocation of SMBBMU Larkana

The 7th Convocation of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana, was held on Monday, 29th December 2025, and was graced by Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), as the Chief Guest, in the presence of Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh, and Mr. Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, Minister for Universities and Boards, Government of Sindh.

On the occasion, the Worthy Vice Chancellor of Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University (BNBWU), Prof. Dr. Tehmina Mangan, was invited as Guest of Honor, representing BNBWU at the prestigious academic gathering. The ceremony was hosted under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Syed Nusrat Shah, Vice Chancellor, SMBBMU, Larkana, and was attended by senior academicians, university leadership, faculty members, graduating students, and distinguished guests from across the province.

The convocation marked the culmination of academic journeys for graduating students and reaffirmed the shared commitment of public sector universities towards academic standards, professional ethics, and public service. The Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj warmly welcomed Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Local Government and Housing Town Planning (HTP), Sindh Government, along with renowned senior journalist Mr. Suhail Warraich, during their visit to The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU), The visit was also attended by Syed Kumail Haider Shah, Chairman, District Council Sukkur, and Mr. Nadir Shahzad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Sukkur, underscoring strong coordination between provincial leadership, local government, district administration, and the University.

During the visit, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah observed the ongoing development works, academic facilities, and student-centered initiatives at the University and expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of progress achieved within a short span of time. Addressing the students on the occasion, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah announced a scholarship support package of PKR 20 million for deserving students. The initiative particularly aims to support ACCA students, covering examination fees and residency expenses in collaboration with Pakistan’s leading accountancy and audit firms, thereby enhancing access to professional education and career pathways.

In continuation of strengthening academic and learning infrastructure at Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University (BNBWU), the Shaheed Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto Library was formally inaugurated by Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Local Government and Housing Town Planning (HTP), Government of Sindh, in the gracious presence of the Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Syed Kumail Haider Shah, Chairman, District Council Sukkur, and Mr. Nadir Shahzad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Sukkur, reflecting strong support from local government and the district administration for the University’s development. On the occasion, Senior Journalist and Production Editor, Geo News TV, Mr. Suhail Warraich, was also present, adding national media significance to the event.

The inauguration of the library marks an important milestone in BNBWU’s journey towards providing modern, student-centered academic facilities. In line with the Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj’s continued efforts to strengthen academic quality, professional training, and institutional linkages, Prof. Dr. Nabila Anjum Soomro paid a visit to The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU) to observe academic facilities and discuss avenues for collaboration in the field of physiotherapy.

During her visit, Prof. Dr. Nabila Anjum Soomro appreciated the tireless efforts of Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj toward the development and strengthening of the Physiotherapy program, particularly in enhancing academic standards and student learning environments. She visited the department’s laboratories, classrooms, smart classroom, and library, and shared valuable suggestions aimed at further improving students’ practical skills and professional competencies in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program.

Prof. Dr. Nabila Anjum Soomro held an interactive meeting with the Chairperson, Program Coordinator, and faculty members of the department, during which matters related to curriculum enrichment, skills development, and professional training were discussed. She expressed her willingness to establish academic collaboration and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and BNBWU.

Furthermore, she offered multiple in-house internship opportunities and additional professional facilities for BNBWU DPT students at her institute to enhance clinical exposure and hands-on learning. She also invited the Worthy Vice Chancellor to visit the Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at her convenience to further strengthen institutional collaboration.

The visit marked a positive step towards fostering academic–clinical linkages and expanding professional learning opportunities for physiotherapy students at Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University.

The district administration’s continued support remains a key enabler of the rapid institutional growth of The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU). In this context, Mr. Nadir Shahzad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Sukkur, paid an official visit to the University on 10-12-2025 to discuss avenues of collaboration and sustained support by the district government for the University’s ongoing and future development initiatives.

During the visit, comprehensive deliberations were held regarding the 200 acres of land allotted to BNBWU for its expansion. On the occasion, 50 acres of land were formally handed over to the University, while the Deputy Commissioner issued clear directives to the concerned officers for the expedited transfer of the remaining allotted land. He assured the University administration of his full cooperation and facilitation in completing this process at the earliest.

Mr. Nadir Shahzad Khan expressed his appreciation for the notable pace of development and institutional progress achieved by BNBWU within a relatively short period. He observed that the University’s infrastructure development and academic expansion reflect a strong commitment to quality education and women’s empowerment.

The Deputy Commissioner also lauded the visionary and dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, Vice Chancellor, BNBWU, acknowledging her instrumental role in steering the University towards sustainable growth, academic excellence, and enhanced institutional stature.

In line with the commitment of the Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj to promote holistic education and enhance students’ awareness beyond classroom learning, The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU), successfully hosted an awareness session on Islamic Banking in collaboration with Meezan Bank Limited, Minara Road Branch, Sukkur.

The session was conducted by Mufti Naveed Ahmad Rajput, who shared valuable insights into the fundamental principles, operational framework, and benefits of Islamic banking. His comprehensive presentation enabled students to better understand Shariah-compliant financial systems and the ethical foundations that distinguish Islamic banking from conventional banking practices.

Under the visionary leadership of the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, and her steadfast commitment to transforming Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University (BNBWU), Sukkur, into a hub of science, technology, and research-driven education, the University successfully convened the 5th Meeting of the Board of Studies (BOS) of the Department of Human & Rehabilitation Sciences on 28 November 2025 in the University Conference Room.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Saifullah Bullo, Chairperson, Department of Human & Rehabilitation Sciences, and commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The house unanimously approved the minutes of the previous BOS meeting held on 4 March 2025, reflecting continuity in academic planning and governance.

The Board was attended by eminent internal and external members, including Prof. Dr. Ghulam Murtaza Mastoi (Allama Iqbal Kazi Institute of Chemistry, University of Sindh), Dr. Geeta Kumari (Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sindh, Jamshoro), Dr. Bahadur Ali Mangi (People’s University of Medical & Health Sciences for Women), Dr. Sham Lal (Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur), along with Dr. Ayesha Munawar, Dr. Nabiha Arain, Ms. Rida Siddique, Dr. Shahzeb Muneer, and Dr. Mir Air Hussain Talpur as Special Invitee, ensuring robust academic deliberations through inter-institutional representation.

In line with the Vice Chancellor’s strategic vision, the Board approved the launch of the following postgraduate programs to strengthen advanced education and research capacity at BNBWU:

• MS Physical Therapy

• MS Chemistry

• MS Biotechnology

Additionally, the HEC-recommended revised Schemes of Studies for Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), BS Chemistry, and BS Biotechnology were reviewed and approved for adoption, ensuring alignment with national standards, emerging scientific trends, and market-oriented competencies.

The meeting concluded with a renewed collective commitment to academic excellence, curriculum modernization, and research-led learning, reaffirming BNBWU’s mission to empower women through quality higher education and innovation

Dr. Ram Chand’s Research Group

High-Energy Physics & Machine Learning (CERN Collaboration)

In collaboration with CERN, this research group applies state-of-the-art deep learning architectures to fundamental problems in particle physics, with a primary focus on jet classification in proton-proton collision events recorded at the Large Hadron Collider. Jets—collimated sprays of hadrons originating from quarks and gluons—carry essential information about the underlying hard scattering processes, and their accurate classification is critical for precision measurements and searches for new physics beyond the Standard Model.

We leverage CERN’s open data initiative to train and benchmark convolutional neural networks, graph neural networks, and transformer-based models on jet tagging tasks, including discrimination between quark-initiated and gluon-initiated jets, identification of boosted heavy particles, and anomaly detection for potential new physics signatures. Our work contributes to the growing intersection of artificial intelligence and fundamental physics, developing interpretable and robust ML pipelines suitable for deployment in high-throughput experimental environments. This collaboration provides our students with exposure to international research standards and cutting-edge computational methodologies in particle physics.
