BNBWU Sukkur in collaboration with The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Musawi , and SRSO – Sindh Rural Support Organization Sukkur organized workshop and legal aid camp focusing on the title “Women’s Marriage Rights.” on May 29, 2024. Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, Vice Chancellor of BNBWU Sukkur chaired the session. The event was graced by notable speakers including Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) and Pir Muhammad Shah, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Sukkur.

Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj highlighted the importance of understanding women’s marriage and human rights, stating, “Empowering women through education and awareness is crucial for societal progress.” Following a productive discussion between Prof. Dr.Tehmina Nangraj, Vice Chancellor of BNBWU, and Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), and through their dedicated efforts, the establishment of the Nusrat Bhutto Sindh Human Rights Centre at BNBWU has been announced.

Barrister Rida Tahir led a discussion on “Ensuring Gender Equality in Education and Employment for the Economic Empowerment of Women,” while Barrister Khadija Bokhari tackled “Combating Gender-Based Violence and Discrimination.” Pir Muhammad Shah addressed the challenges women face in police stations and condemned practices that deny women their inheritance rights, urging, “We must enforce laws that protect women’s rights to ensure their rightful place in society.”

Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj presented souvenirs to the esteemed guests. BNBWU Sukkur remains committed to advocating for women’s rights and empowering women through education and awareness.
