Under the visionary leadership of our esteemed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, an MoU was recently signed with the Sindh Civil Society Support Programme (CSSP). In line with this partnership, the inaugural JETCON-2024 conference, themed “Empowering a Sustainable Future in Sindh: Advancing Just Energy Transition,” was held at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, on August 29, 2024.
JETCON-2024 provided an open platform for emerging scholars, scientists, engineers, policymakers, and thought leaders to raise awareness about renewable energy for a sustainable future. The conference focused on initiatives for a Just Energy Transition in Sindh, covering topics such as hybrid energy systems, energy policy and regulatory frameworks, community mini-grids, community engagement, socio-economic impacts, and interdisciplinary approaches.
The event fostered collaboration between academia, industry, communities, and policymakers, while also offering students valuable opportunities to research, discuss, and share best practices in renewable energy. This collaboration is expected to create a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange and networking to promote renewable energy.
We are proud to share that our talented students from BNBWU—Miss Shifa Abro and Miss Sana Saleem from BS English, Miss Abmer from BS Physics, and Miss Iqra Pirzado from BS Mathematics—submitted abstracts and presented their research work at the conference. Their contributions reflect our university’s commitment to empowering students and advancing research in critical areas such as renewable energy.
