Under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, Vice Chancellor of Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University (BNBWU), and in collaboration with CPDI Pakistan-USAID Pakistan’s HumAhang project and the Centre of Women Entrepreneurship and Leadership (CWEL) at BNBWU, the Youth Assembly Launch on November 19, 2024, marked a significant milestone in empowering youth leadership. The event, attended by 30 vibrant university students, aimed to address critical challenges like climate change, disaster risk reduction, and social cohesion, aligning with UN SDGs such as SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and SDG 5 (Gender Equality).
Led by Dr. Noor Ahmed Brohi, under the guidance of Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, CWEL plays a pivotal role in creating opportunities for female students to engage in leadership and community development initiatives. The collaboration with CPDI and CWEL strengthens the impact of the Youth Assembly by integrating entrepreneurship and leadership development with broader social and environmental goals.
The ceremony included a welcome note by Dr. Noor Ahmed Brohi, an overview of the HumAhang project by Mr. Azim Arshad, and an engaging theatrical performance by BNBWU students, highlighting the impact of climate change. The assembly’s structured approach promises to inspire dialogue, foster resilience, and empower youth to lead positive change.
This initiative is a testament to Dr. Tehmina Nangraj’s unwavering commitment to empowering young women and fostering global collaborations that address critical global challenges. Her leadership has created an environment where female students are not only encouraged but actively supported to take on leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to societal progress. By championing programs like the Youth Assembly and CWEL, she inspires young women to become agents of change, driving resilience and development in their communities and beyond.
