The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur (BNBWU) was a key partner in The British Council funded international project, “𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐏𝐈𝐄) 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐔𝐊–𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 & 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞”, which has been recognized among the top five winning projects worldwide.
Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj, Vice Chancellor of BNBWU, attended the PIE Award Ceremony at the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST), Islamabad, to celebrate the project’s success. On the occasion, Dr. Rizan Riaz, Pro-Rector (Research, Innovation & Commercialization), presented a shield to Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj in recognition of BNBWU’s valuable contribution to the successful implementation of PIE.
In her address, Prof. Dr. Tehmina highlighted that women in Pakistan face a persistent double barrier of weaker education outcomes and very low economic participation, shaped by low literacy, social norms, and entrenched customs. She noted that PIE is crucial because it goes beyond advocating equality to delivering it through hands-on Robotics and AI training for students and faculty, a global mentoring network, and strengthened institutional capacity offering a scalable model for women’s empowerment.
She further shared that it is a proud moment for BNBWU that Ms. Muskan Devi, a BNBWU student, secured a prestigious international opportunity through PIE, becoming the only student nationwide selected from participants across women’s universities in Pakistan to visit the Eureka Robotics Centre at Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK.
Prof. Dr. Tehmina extends her heartfelt congratulations to all partner teams, including the BNBWU team, and offers special recognition to Dr. Shadan Khattak, whose visionary leadership and tireless commitment were pivotal in turning PIE into a measurable success. She also warmly commends Dr. Farkhnada for her strong collaboration and dedicated efforts, which helped deliver such meaningful impact.
