6th Meeting of the Academic Council Held at BNBWU

The 6th Meeting of the Academic Council of Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University (BNBWU), Sukkur, was convened under the chairpersonship of Prof. Dr. Tehmina Mangan, Vice Chancellor BNBWU, and co-chaired by Prof. Dr. Shahzad Naseem, Dean, Faculty of Management, Information Science & Technology (FMIST).

The meeting was attended by members of the Academic Council, including prominent external members: Prof. Dr. Parveen Munshi, Prof. Dr. Haider Abbas, Prof. Dr. Tajnees Pirzada, and Mr. Shahid Nazir, Deputy Secretary, Universities & Boards Department, Government of Sindh, reflecting strong inter-institutional and governmental representation in the University’s academic governance.

The Academic Council deliberated on a comprehensive agenda covering key academic and policy matters. Major agenda items included approval of the list of successful undergraduate students, and consideration and approval of important academic policies such as the BNBWU Student Exchange Program Policy 2025 and the Laptop Award Policy for graduates pursuing higher education abroad. The Council also approved the incorporation of Holy Qur’an courses in undergraduate and postgraduate programs as per HEC guidelines, the launch of new academic programs including PhD Physics, MPhil Islamic Studies, MS Chemistry, MS Biotechnology, and MS Physiotherapy, and proposals related to the restructuring of academic faculties and nomination of members to the Discipline Committee.

Members of the Academic Council appreciated the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Tehmina Mangan and her sustained efforts toward strengthening academic standards, governance reforms, and program expansion at BNBWU. The meeting concluded with consensus on major agenda items and reaffirmation of the Council’s collective support for advancing the University’s academic mission and strategic growth.
