BS Genetics

Genetics is the study of genes and heredity. It enlightens the insight knowledge of functional and non-functional mechanism of gene, role of genetics in evolution, common and complex diseases, and population genetics that is studied by experimental approaches. Genetics plays pivotal part in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Genetic Engineering, Biochemistry, Medicine, Diagnostic health care sections etc., We are devoted to produce pragmatic and rational graduates having necessary knowledge and skills to compete in this advance field. Graduates have a fortuity to understand molecular basis of DNA, variation in population, and other specialized lab techniques such as DNA sequencing, Polymerase Chain Reaction, etc.,

PEO - 1: Graduates will be provided with basic to advanced concepts of genetics, inheritance pattern and variation.
PEO - 2: Graduates will be directed towards advanced approaches and research in the field of genetics.
PEO - 3: Graduates will be able to play their role in diagnostic lab, academia, and research lab related to genetics and its sub-branches.
PEO - 4: Graduates will show commitment to ethical values and will play their role in the betterment of the society

PLO - 1: Graduate will be exposed to fundamental- advanced theoretical concepts of genetics and student would be able to apply these concepts in research .
PLO - 2: Graduate will be able to understand the interdisciplinary nature of genetics and its connection with other biological sciences.
PLO - 3: Graduate will be able to identify mutation and causes of variation in population.
PLO - 4: Graduate will be able to apply scientific studies, including formulating a hypothesis, laboratory-based techniques, designing studies, data evaluation and drawing conclusions to address both research and real-world problems in genetics.
PLO - 5: Exercise Bio-ethical and professional behavior and demonstrate high personal integrity when conducting research in genetics.
PLO - 6: Graduates will be able to understand biosafety levels. They will be able to handle mutagens and other lethal chemicals in genetics lab.
PLO - 7: Recognize the importance of continuing professional development and attitude by analyzing current trends and literature and developing new skills, and set carrier goals and successfully pursue career objectives in education, government, industry and related fields.
